Priorities for national policy
LTCA exists to ensure that the voices of people living with a long-term condition are heard at a national level
At the last election, LTCA was a key partner in the highly successful 17 Million Reasons campaign, which lobbied for three objectives:
- Rapid access to expert diagnosis and assessment
- Comprehensive health information and support available to all who need it on an equal basis; and
- Individual care plans for everyone who requests one
All the major political parties at the last election supported the 17 Million Reasons campaign. More recently, the Government's white paper Our health, our care, our say coupled with the 18-week targets for outpatient appointments showed that our objectives had been heard.
LTCA's priority, now, is to ensure that all three objectives: improved access, better information and support, and individual care planning are implemented fully.
LTCA will work with partner organisations, the NHS, ministers and the Department of Health to ensure that our objectives are not just met on paper, but also in reality.
