Local Involvement Networks
LINks - support for the voluntary and community sector
Local Involvement Networks (LINks) offer new opportunities for voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations - in fact the voluntary sector is central to the whole idea of LINks.
There will be one LINk in every local authority area with social services responsibility. LINks will be independent networks of interested individuals and organisations who will have a direct role in identifying local needs and influencing the development, commissioning and provision of all local health and social care services. They will take advantage of existing structures and networks that already exist in the community.
Why VCS should get involved
LINks provide an opportunity to add to your power to influence and change local services. By joining together in LINks, local communities can unite their voices more coherently. This will allow you to network with a wide range of organisations, groups and individuals and you can engage in the LINk in a flexible way to suit your needs.
There is a requirement for service providers to consult patients and the public and LINks will become the first point of contact for providers to gain views.
Further information
LTCA has produced an introductory leaflet about LINks. This is part of our ongoing project to encourage VCS groups and organisations to get involved in LINks to strengthen their voice and add to their influencing power. Download the leaflet here.
LINKs project workers are available to present and talk through LINKs at VCS events and meetings. For further information, or for hard copies of the leaflet, contact jessicahaddon@ltca.org.uk
